Reverend Dr. Janice Jenkins proclaims the joy of the Lord as her strength and loves being in the service of the Lord. She confesses that her life had no real meaning or direction before accepting Christ as her personal Savior. But now, He has made something beautiful out of her life.
Reverend Jenkins was the Founder and Pastor of Judah Praise Fellowship Christian Church located in Fairfax, Virginia until December 2019 when she retired. She holds distinction of being the first woman ordained at First Baptist Church of Vienna and the first woman Pastor recognized by the Northern Virginia Baptist Association. She has been and is a trailblazer for women in the Northern Virginia Baptist Association. In the Association, Dr. Jenkins serves as the 3rd Vice-Moderator, the first woman to serve in the office of Moderator; a member of the Ordination Council; and serves as a Catechizer. Dr. Jenkins also currently serves as a Covenant Partner of the Praise Covenant Interdenominational Fellowship (PCIF), a synergistic fellowship of Christian churches and ministries that recognize the need for networking, accountability, fellowship, and resource sharing. She also serves as Treasurer of the Baptist Ministers Conference of Northern Virginia and Vicinity. Dr. Jenkins is the President/CEO of Joyful Praise Ministry. This ministry’s mission is to help people focus on developing their spiritual walk, so they will not only become stronger Christians but better contributors to society. Reverend Dr. Jenkins places her strongest emphasis on evangelism, praise and worship, missions, and reaching the lost at any cost. She has taken advantage of opportunities to do this by introducing others to Christ through her travels by preaching, conducting workshops, seminars, and retreats.
Dr. Jenkins attended the University of District Columbia, receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics with emphasis in Topology; Samuel Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union, receiving a Master of Divinity, graduating Magna cum Laude; and Wesley Theological Seminary, receiving a Doctor of Ministry with emphasis in Pastoral Leadership.
Reverend Jenkins currently resides in Fairfax, Virginia with husband Michael Jenkins. They have three children and five grandchildren.
Reverend Dr. Janice Jenkins most important goal in life is to strive to use her God-given talents, abilities, and spiritual gifts to help others understand that “we can do all things through Christ.” Her life scripture is “In All Thy Ways Acknowledge Him and He Shall Direct Thy Paths” (Proverbs 3:6).
